ORIGINS AND ETYMOLOGY

Astro-English: from Astronese, the term koryfsis is formed by the Greek word “korýfosi” denoting climax or pinnacle and adjoins the suffix -sis denoting a condition or state of being, altogether to mean “the state of being of a species reaching its peak condition.”
